Announcement: Cold Dark Night Cover Reveal and Release Day #legendsofmadeira

Hey, everyone! I can’t tell you how excited I am to announce the cover reveal and release date for my newest novel. It’s been a long time coming.

New husband, new house, new town… and a new mystery to solve.

Tami Montgomery thought her police chief husband was going to be the only investigator in the family when she gave up her journalism career and moved with him to Madeira, New Mexico.

But after the historical society asks her to write stories for a book celebrating the town’s history, she becomes embroiled in a new mystery. If she can’t solve this one, she could lose everything. Her research uncovers a spate of untimely deaths of local law enforcement officials. Further digging reveals a common link—they all lived in the house she and Jason now share.

Tami isn’t a superstitious person, but the circumstances are too similar for coincidence. Then she unearths an even more disturbing pattern. And if history repeats itself, her husband will be the next to die.

Cold Dark Night is the first in my Legends of Madeira series. For those of you who have read the Driscoll Lake series, you’ll see a couple of familiar characters. And for those who read the prequel, House of Sorrow, you’ll learn what caused Ruth to become a recluse.

The release date is planned for May 24. In the meantime…

Tami watched from the porch swing as Jason prepared to leave. At over six feet, he had several inches on her in height. With his dark brown hair, brown eyes, square jaw, and a slight chin cleft, his looks were enough to make any woman swoon. He also filled out a pair of jeans nicely, she noted as he sprinted down the front steps.

“Aren’t you getting uniforms?” she called out to him.

“They’re supposed to be delivered to the station today. I’ll bring them home tonight.” Jason climbed into his black Camaro, then flashed her a grin as he backed out of the driveway. Sometimes shades of the cocky detective she first met in Driscoll Lake still showed.

At that time, she neither liked nor trusted him, believing he was too self-serving to do his job.

Tami inhaled the fresh air, catching a whiff of sagebrush. The arid climate was much different from Driscoll Lake. Madeira was located on the high plains, but the Sangre de Cristo Mountains were only a short distance by car. Many people considered the area to be the prettiest part of the state. Tami had to admit she wouldn’t miss the humidity of Northeast Texas. The trees and greenery were another matter.

Fortunately, she and Jason were able to buy a house. Not just any home, but the one that caught her eye when they first visited Madeira in late July. Tami recalled the morning she walked into the real estate office.

Does Tami’s early days in her new home remind you of Ruth’s? The porch swing, living in the same house, both their husbands being Madeira’s newest police chief. That’s not all the similarities in their lives. But will Tami be able to solve the mystery that led Ruth to become a recluse?

More to come! Oh, and you might guess – there’s a full moon involved!
